The HMC703LP4ETR is an 8 GHz fractional frequency synthesizer from Analog Devices Inc. (ADI), also known as Hittite Microwave. It is based on a high-performance phase-locked loop (PLL) platform, which also underpins the HMC704LP4E and Hittite’s latest generation of PLL+VCO products. This platform offers industry-leading phase noise and spurious performance, enabling higher-order modulation schemes while minimizing blocker effects in high-performance radios.
The HMC703LP4ETR features a wideband RF input range from DC to 8 GHz, making it suitable for a variety of applications. It boasts excellent phase noise and spurious performance, with a figure of merit of -112 dBc/Hz at 8 GHz fractional with a 50 kHz offset. The synthesizer also offers a high phase frequency detector (PFD) rate of 100 MHz and low RMS jitter of less than 50 fs.
In addition to its frequency synthesis capabilities, the HMC703LP4ETR provides frequency sweep and modulation features, external triggering, double-buffering, exact frequency control, and phase modulation. It maintains pin compatibility with the HMC700LP4E PLL for main functions, ensuring ease of integration and upgrade.
The HMC703LP4ETR is packaged in a compact 24-lead QFN-24 surface-mount package, measuring 4×4 mm. It operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and requires a power supply voltage between 2.7 V and 5.5 V.
