AD8231ACPZ-R7 is a low-drift, rail-to-rail instrumentation amplifier from Analog Devices Inc. (ADI). It features digitally programmable gain settings of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128, which can be programmed through digital logic or pin strapping. This amplifier is ideal for applications requiring precision performance over a wide temperature range, such as industrial temperature sensing and data logging.
With internal gain-setting resistors, the AD8231ACPZ-R7 offers a maximum gain drift of only 10 ppm/°C for gains of 1 to 32. Thanks to its auto-zeroing input stage, it exhibits a maximum input offset of 15 μV and a maximum input offset drift of just 50 nV/°C. For a gain (G) of 1, the common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) is 80 dB, increasing to 110 dB at higher gains.
In addition, the AD8231ACPZ-R7 includes a non-committed operational amplifier that can be used for additional gain, differential signal driving, or filtering. It also has a shutdown function that reduces current consumption to a maximum of 1 μA.
Key features of the AD8231ACPZ-R7 include:
- Digitally/pin-programmable gains of G = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128.
- Specified over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C with a maximum input offset drift of 50 nV/°C and a maximum gain drift of 10 ppm/°C.
- Excellent DC performance with a minimum CMR of 80 dB (G = 1) and a maximum input offset voltage of 15 μV.
- Low noise of 0.7 μVpp (0.1 Hz to 10 Hz) and good AC performance with a bandwidth of 2.7 MHz (G = 1) and a slew rate of 1.1 V/μs.
- Rail-to-rail output.
- Shutdown/multiplexing capability with an additional operational amplifier.
- Single-supply range of 3 V to 5 V and dual-supply range of ±1.5 V to ±2.5 V.
The AD8231ACPZ-R7 is suitable for a variety of applications, including pressure and strain sensors, thermocouples and RTDs, programmable instruments, industrial controls, scales, electronic scales, and automotive controls. It is available in a 16-lead lead-frame chip scale package (LFCSP) with a 4×4 mm footprint, making it ideal for surface-mount applications.
Overall, the AD8231ACPZ-R7 offers a combination of low drift, high precision, and programmable gain, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of industrial and automotive applications.
