The AD7712ANZ is a complete analog front-end (AFE) designed for low-frequency measurement applications. It features two analog input channels that can directly accept low-level signals from sensors or high-level signals (±4 × VREF), and produce serial digital outputs. Utilizing Σ-Δ conversion technology, the AD7712ANZ achieves up to 24-bit no-missing-code performance.
Key features of the AD7712ANZ include:
- Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA): The device incorporates a proprietary programmable gain front end based on an analog modulator. Both low-level and attenuated high-level signals can be applied to this modulator. The gain range for both input channels is programmable from 1 to 128, with differential input applicable to the low-level channel.
- Digital Filter: The modulator output is processed by an on-chip digital filter. The first notch of this digital filter is programmable via an on-chip control register, allowing adjustment of the filter cutoff and settling time.
- Serial Interface: The AD7712ANZ offers a bidirectional serial port for input channel selection, gain setting, and signal polarity configuration in software. This makes it highly suitable for microcontroller-based intelligent system applications.
- Calibration Options: The device includes self-calibration, system calibration, and background calibration options, allowing users to read and write to the on-chip calibration registers.
- Low Power Consumption: Constructed with CMOS technology, the AD7712ANZ ensures low power consumption. A hardware-programmable power-save mode further reduces standby power consumption to just 100 µW (typical).
- Packaging: The AD7712ANZ is available in two packaging options: a 24-pin, 0.3-inch-wide plastic-sealed dual in-line package (DIP) and a 24-pin small outline integrated circuit (SOIC) package.
Additionally, the AD7712ANZ offers charge-balanced ADC with 24-bit no-missing-code and ±0.0015% nonlinearity. It supports both internal and external reference voltage selection and can operate with single or dual power supplies. With its high-level and low-level analog input channels, programmable gain, built-in low-pass filter with programmable cutoff, and other advanced features, the AD7712ANZ is an excellent choice for precision measurement applications.
In summary, the AD7712ANZ is a versatile and high-performance analog front-end for low-frequency measurement applications, combining high precision, low power consumption, and flexible configuration options in a compact package.
