The STM8S is available in a variety of packages from 8 to 64 pins to meet the requirements of space-constrained applications. The STM8S offers a wide range of features including timers, a communication interface, high-speed ADC and DAC converters, an internal oscillator up to 16MHz with external clock input, a real-time clock, power management features such as wake-up from deep sleep mode, and brown out reset function when voltage drops below 2.7V.

The STM8S Application-specific line offers superior analog performance with a new high dynamic range ADC. This ADC has a 10-bit resolution with an input voltage range of up to 5 V, supporting sensor applications such as humidity, temperature, and pressure sensors. The ADC is also available without external reference (single supply operation) to allow operation in power-limited devices.

The STM8S Application-specific line also includes two new high-speed DACs with 12-bit resolution, allowing the creation of high-fidelity audio and video systems. These DACs can be used with various modulation schemes such as PWM, Dithering, and Sigma Delta modulation modes to create low noise and distortion audio signals.

STM8S devices offer several analog peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, comparators, timers, PWM channels, and an RTC (real-time clock). Moreover, they can be equipped with additional high-speed SPI or I2C peripherals such as SPIFI™ or LINFlex™ transceiver controllers.

Technology In STM8S Application Specific Line

STM8S is a cost-effective solution for application-specific lines. The STM8S device is an 8-bit microcontroller with on-chip Flash, SRAM, and EEPROM memory. It includes an advanced high-speed mixed signal analog to digital converter (ADC) with 14 channels, 12-bit resolution, up to 200 kS/s sampling rate, and ±12V analog supply voltage range.

The GPIOs are configurable as digital inputs or outputs and can be used to interface external peripherals such as a display, LCD, or LED module. An external interrupt controller allows the system to respond to external events, such as push buttons or temperature sensors. The low power consumption of the device allows it to operate from batteries or energy harvesting sources such as solar cells, making it ideal for remote applications such as wireless sensor nodes and smart meters.

STM8S is a low-cost STM8S microcontroller family. The STM8S includes a set of peripherals for use in both onboard and stand-alone applications.
